The calendar has been filling nicely with workshops, private lessons, and festivals. I was so tickled when recently, I was invited to teach a felting workshop to the fashion design department at the Nassau Community college! What an honor! We’re going to be felting booties for their next tree trimming event for children at the Cerebral Palsy fund raiser at the Cradle of Aviation Museum next winter. It really warms my heart to be part of something so special. There are some really neat classes lined up for spring and summer. Check out these felted air planters… I’m having blast making them and this class will give you the option to felt an air planter or a cozy birdhouse for spring. If you check out my instagram page (button on the right), you’ll be able to see some of my latest projects, like the birdhouse… I need to make a few more, I’ve just been so carried away with the planters, arranging the moss and the plants have been a real treat. Here’s a little secret, I always wanted to be a florist, so to be able to finally incorporate plants into my work… Living art… What’s better than that.
I always find so much inspiration teaching my students. Some of them repeat classes with me, some are new to felting, but nevertheless, their work is always so beautiful, so different, so creative and full on raw creativity… This was the Felted Ruffle Scarf workshop. This particular scarf was gorgeous… Actually from start to finish it was pretty gorgeous!
Check out the workshop page for what’s coming up for spring/summer. In the meantime, I’ll be running all over town teaching how to make cool pretty things out of fibers and preparing really hard for THIS!!!! YUP I MADE IT TO THE BIG LEAGUE! SEE YOU THERE, I’M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! happy felting my friends, see you in class!
