02.16.17The Brick Studio and Gallery…

brick kickstarter I’ve been keeping this quiet for as long as I possibly can, but we’re getting closer and closer and things are really starting to take shape (so much progress in such a short period of time- it’s kinda crazy)… We’re about to open an amazing not for profit art space in Rocky Point in conjunction to the revitalization of downtime Rocky Point here on Long Island… I’d love to invite all of you visit and like our page The Brick Studio.  We just recently launched our kickstarter campaign this weekend and we’ll need all the support we can get to make this a killer space to work and escape from life through art. Right now, this is a studio based around the ceramic arts, offering classes and membership programs for potters, residency programs, as well as space for production potters, which we really need around here in response to the closing of the community art center at Stonybrook University… This has been a dream for all of us and we really can’t believe this is coming to fruition. As this grows and builds momentum, we will be expanding to offer what we’ll be offering to potters, to artists working in all mediums, painters,  sculptors, screenwriters, print makers, photographers, musicians, you get the picture! So visit our page and stay tuned, we appreciate your support, let’s do this!  Visit our website too and read our mission!

09.06.16fall is for pottery and making pillows with your friends…

IMG_0180 Just a little note about this fall’s workshop schedule!  Get ready, because pottery is on the menu, let’s go!  After waiting what seems like an eternity to get my hands deep into clay again, it’s finally just a few weeks away and starting to feel so real!  I honestly can’t even wrap my head around the fact that our summer of love came and went so fast!  I spent a lot of time weaving  and I’m happy to say that I’ll be teaching a Weaving 101 workshop!  Make sure you check out the schedule.  I’m really looking forward to a fabulous fall full of creativity, blending techniques and collaborating with friends! psst… check out these pillows, fingers crossed I’ll find the time to get a batch of these done for holiday market time 🙂

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

I’m going to pretend that while updating my workshop page just now, that I didn’t just notice how long it’s been since I’ve added a post, ugh that’s pretty bad…  Anyway, I’ve been invited to teach at a few new spots this summer and into fall…  I’ll be at Bond & Bangs in Asbury Park this July, and I’m really looking forward to my workshops lined up at the Art League of Long Island, that actually starts this Friday evening!

Make sure to check out the workshops page and hopefully I’ll be able to add a beginner’s weaving class to my line-up soon!  I just started this incredibly addicting craft, and I don’t feel confident just yet to teach it, I’m just winging it myself…. Happy felting and WEAVING everybody!!! See you all, I hope for class!  Please make sure you’re following along on Instagram to stay up to date with classes, pop up sales and what I’m working on…  There’s a link to the right!

02.13.16new planters and such…

IMG_7170 A few of my latest air planters and some freshly felted soaps have just been added to the shop just in time for Valentine’s day…  These plants look so sweet and happy in any window, a handmade gift of nature that really lasts (this most recent batch of air plants from Air Plant Design Studio might be my favorite- look at the picture below)!  Make sure you enter the coupon code bemine20 at checkout for 20% off of your purchase so you can enjoy giving handmade even more!

I also listed some new classes to my workshop page so make sure to check it out…  Now that the classes are in full swing over at Gallery North, I’m so excited to introduce some new techniques and meet some new expect felters!  The light in the Community Arts Center is so amazing, teaching and working in this new space has been a real treat.  At the East End Arts Center in Riverhead, I’ll be introducing a new Felted Handbag class (texture for days), where the bag itself it nuno felted onto a panel of cotton so it’s lined from the start and part 2 of the class we’ll be sewing in the zipper, this is going to be the class you won’t want to miss…  SO in the meantime, check the schedule, if there’s a class or a techniques you’d like to focus on don’t be afraid to bring along some of your ideas!  Happy felting everybody, if you’re here in the North East, stay warm!!!

01.13.16We felted flowers today…

at Gallery North.  We’re planning on assembling a wreath next week with all of our flowers, but I have a feeling we’ll be rolling a few more of these whimsical woolly petals… There’s nothing not to love about the process… vsco-photo-3 I have so many things I NEED to make FIRST thing in the morning, (I wish I could finish them) all by tomorrow, not for a class (well kinda) but for me…  Like these nuno felted cross body bags…  I just added this project to the workshop page this week.  FullSizeRender-1 I tried to finish it yesterday, but it was cold and windy outside and someone was enjoying the sun shining on my work table…  I didn’t have the heart to tell him to go…

The dates are already set for the EEAC and we’re in the process of scheduling it for Gallery North…  We’ll be nuno felting the bag, rolling handles, sewing in a zipper and focusing on surface design…

10.03.15handmadeloves…

Now that the wind has picked up and the temperature has DROPPED!!! whoa…  it’s like instantaneous blast of ideas, textures, fabrics, color…  There is a thrift store close by that I’d like to stop by to snag some silk scarves for my nuno workshops coming up this fall.  I think we’re going to be doing things a little differently this season in my classes.  We’re going to add some new fabrics, and work on combining a variety of different materials.  The Nuno workshop class fills up pretty quick, so be sure to call and reserve your spot!

In other news, I’ll be adding more of my work to the HandmadeLoves online shop.  If you haven’t stumbled across this amazing online mecca of handmade goodness, I’d highly recommend visiting before the holidays, I know where I’ll be shopping this year!

08.29.15the fall workshop schedule…

There are a bunch of new classes added to the workshop page, so make sure to check them out!  I’ll be at the Comsewogue Public Library this fall and I’m pretty excited about that!  You need to be a card holder, so what better time to join the library right!?!  I used to go to that library as a little girl, so teaching there is going to be pretty neat-o!  Those are evening classes too, so if you’re looking to craft after a long day of work, unwind a little, craft a little, chat with the ladies… I think you catch my drift…  Anyway, click on the workshops link at the top of the page and don’t hesitate to email me with any questions you may have.  See you this fall, let’s felt!
