07.28.14introduction to nuno felting…

Another wonderful workshop at the EEAC this past week.  Learning how to paint with fibers, adding movement and texture to hand dyed shibori silk… photo 4 photo 1-1 A little late I know, but as promised here are some of my resources for the fibers and fabrics we used in class.  Dharma Trading is a fabulous one stop shop for silks, cottons, and more…  You can see on their website up close and personal the details of their fabrics.  If you’re ready to stir up a dye pot, they have beautiful dyes too.  As far as fibers for our nuno workshop, refer to this post from a couple of weeks ago…  For nuno, remember we used extra fine merino, not short fiber merino, that was for the wet felted vessels class…

We used silk chiffon 8mm and silk gauze 3mm.  Cotton harem cloth and silk habotai 5mm are also lovely to work with, and can also be found at Dharma Trading… photo 3 photoa photo 2 photo 1 There’s a new fall schedule posted, so check out the workshop page.  I can’t wait to explore with you, surface design and working multiple resists…  Happy felting!
